My thoughts are with the people who work at BlackBerry and their families. Today is a very difficult day for the 300 families that are affected in this province. The community of Bedford and several others throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality will be grappling with the reality of this devastating closure.
At this difficult time, it’s my understanding the current government will be reaching out to BlackBerry to identify the services that can be offered to displaced workers and their families.
BlackBerry employees are highly skilled and have worked hard for many years in the IT, finance, and analytics field. They have helped grow our communities and our economy, and it is my sincere hope that assistance will help provide a smooth transition to new employment opportunities in the Nova Scotia economy.
