Today in Canada’s Political History: Joe Clark marries Maureen McTeer

In recent days on Art’s History, we have marked the wedding anniversaries of PM Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie, and that of former PM Brian Mulroney and his life partner Mila.Today, it is a great personal and professional pleasure to send out anniversary congratulations to our 16th PM, Joe Clark, and his wife Maureen McTeer, as they celebrate their special day. They were married June 30, 1973, so today is their 49th wedding anniversary, a remarkable milestone in today’s world.Arthur Milnes is an accomplished public historian and award-winning journalist.  He was research assistant on The Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney’s best-selling Memoirs and also served as a speechwriter to then-Prime Minister Stephen Harper and as a Fellow of the Queen’s Centre for the Study of Democracy under the leadership of Tom Axworthy.  A resident of Kingston, Ontario, Milnes serves as the in-house historian at the 175 year-old Frontenac Club Hotel.
